![]() RF&P 2538 above, assigned to the RF&P by the USRA, was a USRA design, single-sheathed boxcar upgraded in 1948 with a second grab iron on the left side of the car and AB brakes. It is one of a 350 car order built by AC&F and assigned Series 2451-2800. RF&P’s subsidiary Washington Southern was assigned 150 cars as Series 981-1130, giving the RF&P a total of 500 boxcars. In 1926, these cars were merged into the RF&P - see RF&P 1023 below. (by 1958 the ORER showed 9 cars still in revenue service in the 2451 group and 8 cars in the 981 group. These were some of the longest serving USRA single-sheathed boxcars in revenue service.) ![]() ![]() Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
