lettering for CGW’s 8’-7” IH box cars (X-29 clone)

Between 1931 and 1933, the CGW received 1,500 “X-29 clone” boxcars from Pullman-Standard as follows:

Series 85000-85998, 500 cars, Pullman-Standard, Lot 5481, delivered January, 1931 (even numbers only)
Series 86000-86998, 500 cars, Pullman-Standard, Lot 5487, delivered September, 1931 (even numbers only)
Series 87000-87998, 500 cars, Pullman-Standard, Lot 5498, delivered July 1933 (even numbers only)

Paint & Lettering: Car body painted CGW freight car brown. 86198 below displays it’s as-delivered paint and lettering scheme. As the cars were repainted in the 1940’s or so, the Corn Belt Route medallion was dropped and 1” lines were added to the reporting marks. Lettering all white stencil paste.
