Previous Return to list of all 40’ boxcars in 1:48 scale Next Chicago, St Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha lettering for the 1937 Modified boxcar as delivered
![]() In October of 1941, the CMO took delivery of 700 Modifed 1937 AAR design box cars built by AC&F, Lot #2255. These cars were assigned road numbers 20000-20048, 20050-20398 and 20400 thru 21398. All had Viking roofs. The cars were painted boxcar red-brown (I part Floquil #74 and 1 part Floquil 186) Underbody and truck side frames painted black car cement. Wheels were unpainted and allowed to rust and gather a coating of axle grease and road dust. A good representation of this patina is to paint the wheels and axles with a 50% mixture of Floquil Grimey Black and 50% Floquil Zinc Chromate Primer. Lettering designed and sized at Protocraft Decals with artwork by Norm Buckhart ![]() Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
