![]() Between December of 1940 and August of 1944, the Burlington’s own shops built and delivered 3,400 Modified 1937 AAR box cars. Assigned road numbers 30100-33827 and 34000-34171 and 34200-34599. Both Youngstown and Superior doors were intersperced throughout the range of these cars. Entire car painted box car red with black underbody. The slogan“Way of the Zephyrs” is placed on the side of the car with brake cylinder, “Everywhere West” diagonally opposite. Note the small arrow indicating location of release rod handle. In October 1944, the FW&D took delivery of 500 Modified 1937 AAR design box cars. These cars were built in the CB&Q shops and were assigned road numbers 8001-8500. ![]() Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
