![]() In 1951 and 1952, the RI received 3,000 new 40’-6” steel boxcars. All were lettered with the new “100 Years of Progress” medallion. Two thousand were PS-1 Class by Pullman-Standard, Lot 8028, Series 21000-22999, with the remaining 1,000 from AC&F, Lot - , Series 23000-23999 (earlier in 1950, ACF delivered 1,000 of this class Series 24000-24999, but with the earlier lettering scheme) Cars were painted a red-brown (1 part Floquil #74 an 1 part Floquil #186) Underbody and truck side frames coated with black car cement. Wheel unpainted and allowed to gather road grime an axle grease. Lettering designed and created at Protocraft Decals. ![]() ![]() Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
