Lettering for 1937 AAR 9'-6" IH and Modified 1937 AAR 10'-6" IH boxcars - 1956 scheme

The Western Pacic took delivery of 350 Modied 1937 AAR box cars in January, 1945. Built by Mt. Vernon Car Co, Lot #9722, Series 20201-20550.

Paint & Lettering: Car body painted red-brown: TCP 204, or (1 part Floquil #74 + 1 part Floquil #186) Underbody and truck side frames painted with black car cement. Wheels were unpainted and allowed to rust and gather a coating of axle grease.

In 1956, the cars were relettered with “The Western Way” and large WP replacing the medallion in Armour yellow lettering. 20346 was repainted at WP’s Sacramento shops in February, 1960
