![]() The C&O was the first of two railroads (concurrently 500 with the same Lot number for the NKP), to approve and receive the new 1932 ARA design boxcars. They were designated Class B5-3, but this class designation was dropped in late 1935. As delivered trucks were 50-ton coil-leaf-coil style. Series 1900-1902, 3 test cars, Pressed Steel Car Co - delivered September 1933* Paint & Lettering: Cars were delivered painted with C&O’s freight car brown. By 1960 the cars were repainted with a dark oxide red. Lettering was all white stencil paste. Delivered reporting marks and road name was in 9” lettering, but in April 1948, the C and O for PROGRESS began to be painted on the cars right hand side and the 1” lines on the reporting marks were dropped.
