In June of 1950, the Katy took delivery of 500 riveted side, post-war design box cars from AC&F. They were assigned road numbers 91001-91500. Sides, ends, running boards and roof grabs painted a High Gloss Katy Standard Red (red oxide in color). Underframe and truck sideframes painted with black car cement. Roofs were unpainted galvanized steel.
