Lettering for Modified 1937 AAR 10'-6" IH design boxcars - 1952 repaint

Between December of 1940 and August of 1944, the Burlington’s own shops built and delivered 3,400 Modi- ed 1937 AAR box cars. (plus another 500 for subsidiary FW&D). Assigned road numbers 30100-33827 and 34000-34171 and 34200-34599. Both Youngstown and Superior doors were intersperced throughout the range of these cars. Entire car painted box car red with black underbody. The slogan“Way of the Zephyrs” is placed on the side of the car with brake cylinder, “Everywhere West” diagonally opposite. Note the small arrow indicating location of release rod handle.
