![]() Betwen July of 1940 and October of 1941, the SOO took delivery of 850 Modified 1937 AAR design box cars, road numbers 42800- 44498. And additional order of 50 cars were delivered for subsiderary Wisconsin Central in December of 1940, and assigned road numbers 136300-136398. All were built by Pullman-Standard and had 10’-5” inside height and painted SOO’s Oxide Red. Footnote: The original Wisconsin Central (1893-1909) was leased by the MSt.P&SSM in 1909. The word ‘Sault” of Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie, is pronounced “soo”, hence the road’s nickname which later became it’s legal name. Betwen July of 1940 and October of 1941, MSt.P&SStM took delivery of 900 Modi.ed 1937 AAR design 10’-5” inside height boxcars. All built by Pullman-Standard. Deliveries and Series assignements as follows:
Series 42800 - 43598, 400 cars, Pullman-Standard, Lot 5631, delivered July 1940 - even numbers only Paint & Lettering: All cars painted SOO’s Oxide Red: TCP-925. Lettering white stencil paste.
