Lettering for MP, M-I, StLB&M and I-GN Modified 1937 10'-6" IH boxcars - as delivered

Between March 1942 and September 1945, the MP took delivery from AC&F 1,375 Modied 1937 AAR steel box cars in three Lots. Lot 2341, series 32500-33299, came with the usual sill tabs between bolsters (see car 32575 below). Lot #2419, Series 34119-34262, and Lot 2420, Series 34263-34287, came with the unusual straight sill between bolsters (see 34113 above). In September 1945, AC&F delivered an additional 300 cars, Lot 2761, Series 34300-34599.
In additon to the 175 cars with the straight side sill received by the MP, the I-GN received 75 straight sill cars, AC&F Lot 2420, Series 17751-17825, and 100 straight sill cars for the StLB&M, AC&F Lot 2419, Series 17501-17600
