Lettering for 1930 ARA design 8'-9" IH boxcars

The M&StL purchased 500 40-ton ARA Class 4C-XM-1 single-sheathed boxcars of the Pratt Truss design, from General American Car Company in 1930. Series 24000-24998 (even numbers only) The cars saw revenue service up through the 1950’s. Car 24040 and 24056 display the mid-1930’s medallion and lettering scheme. Car 24502 and 24164 are seen with the 1950’s lettering scheme. Paint & Lettering: Car painted boxcar red: TCP-923; underbody and truck side frames, black car cement.
