Lettering for 1923 rebuilt ARA 8'-6" IH design boxcars - 1949-55 repaint

This series of cars, WofA 17000-17145, were originally built as single-sheathed, 1923 ARA boxcars by the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company in January-April, 1926 (see example of WofA 17145 below). In 1949-53, 57 were rebuilt into all steel cars and given a new numbers within the railroad’s 17700-17847 Series.
