![]() In September 1934, the Chicago Great Western took delivery of 500 boxcars of the 1932 ARA 9’-4” IH design, from Pullman-Standard under Lot 5500, assigned as Series 89000-89998 (even numbers only) #89498 above displays it’s as-delivered paint and lettering scheme. As the cars were repainted in the 1940’s or so, the Corn Belt Route medallion was dropped and 1” lines were added to the reporting marks. In 1965, after 36 years, 206 were still in revenure service, but by 1970, when the CGW was taken over by the C&NW, only 25 remained.
