![]() Between February and March 1954, the A&EC received 100 ex-Southern 1937 AAR boxcars, and assigned Series 1000-1099 to them. These were a random mix of both the early 1938 square corner cars and 1941 round (W) corner cars. These can be distingushed by the build dates of 9-11, 1938 and 2-3, 1941. All cars, including the 900 Series, were upgraded with Morton running boards. In April 1957 and January 1958, the A&EC received an additional 100 former Southern RR 1937 AAR boxcars, and assigned them as Series 900-999. Again refer to the build date to determine them as square or round corner cars. Most of these cars saw revenue service well into the 1960’s.
