lettering for Texas & Pacific’s 1937 AAR boxcars - as delivered scheme

The Texas & Pacic Railway received 1,000 1937 AAR design 10’-0” IH boxcars as follows:
 

Series 40000-40499, 500 cars, Mt Vernon Car Co, 5/7/5 Youngstown 6’ doors, received December 1937

Series 40500-40999, 500 cars, Mt Vernon Car Co, 5/7/5 Youngstown 6’ doors, received July 1940
 

Note: In the early 1950’s these cars were retted with 5-panel Superior doors and simple sans-serif 18” high lettering in white stencil paste and the new diamond

medallion was added. See Protocraft Decals set T&P-3b) Note the unique positioning and bracket of the air reservoir.
