lettering set for ERIE’s 40’ wood refrigerator cars leased from URTX

In April 1935, the ERIE Railroad leased 100, 40’ wood refrigerator cars rated at 70,000 lbs capacity from Union Refrigerator Transit Company, a division of General American Transportation Corporation and builder of the cars. Road numbers were Series 27000-27099.

Paint & Lettering: Car sides painted reefer yellow; roof, ends and door toe kick coated with mineral red. Ladders, hand grabs and hardware painted black. Underbody and truck side frames coated with Dupont black car cement. Lettering all black stencil paste.
