![]() During the period 1939-1940, 451 reefers were rebuilt from Class Rr-W through Rr-4, originally built as wood side reefers by both Pullman-
Standard and AC&F in the mid-1920’s. into what became Class Rr-27, and renumbered 34500-34950. These were the .rst cars to receive the
new map and slogan schemes. An additional 49 cars were rebuilt with air circulating fans. These cars were renumbered to series 4200-4248
to disinguish them as having fans. Cars were painted Santa Fe reefer orange with black car cement applied to the roof, ends, under door toe
kick, ladders, underbody and truck sideframes. Wheels were left unpainted.
