Lettering for 1956 wood or steel refrigerator car scheme

The Milwaulkee Road leased 500 of these center riveted horizontal seam steel refrigerator cars from URTX over a ten year span. Built between 1940 and 1948 by URTX parent, General American Transportation Corp, both 37265 and 37000 are examples of this Series. URTX 37000, the rst in it’s series and built in 1940 is shown with a 1956 repaint scheme (see over), while URTX 37265 above, built in November 1948 displays it’s as- delivered paint scheme painted all over in orange and the builder’s badge just to the left of the door. URTX 37000 has black ends and roof with only the sides in orange.

Car 7578 below, repainted in January 1951 with orange sides and mineral red ends and roof, is one of 445 cars built by AC&F for URT Co in June of 1927 under Lot 415. Initially assigned Series 87000-87444, it was part of a renumbered series 7000-7699, and leased to the Milwaulkee Road Decal set designed and created at Protocraft Decals
