lettering for St Louis Refrigerator Car Co 36’ wood reefers

The St. Louis Refrigerator Car Company purchased used or leased wood refrigerator cars for hauling Anheuser-Busch beer. Although designated as refrigerator cars, the ICC designation was RB rather than RS or RSM, as cars had no ice hatches. In 1940, the SLRX listed 502, 36’ wood refrigerator cars of 55,000 lbs. capacity. Series ranged from 2101 to 4109, then skipped to the remaining 120 truss-rod cars in Series 6000-6150, with 40’ cars in between.

Paint & Lettering: Sides painted white with a mineral red stripe at the lower side as well as top facia board. Ends and roof painted mineral red, with underbody black. #6114, 1954 repaint included the SLRX oval medallion.
