Fruit Growers Express Refrigerator - 40’ Steel Beam Wood Sheathed Refrigerator Car

This series of 40’ wood reefers built in the 1920’s was used extensively by the Fruit Growers Express (a subsidiary of Amour Car Lines) and saw revenue service up through the 1950’s. Roof and ends mineral red with reefer yellow sides, black hinges and either black or mineral red toe kick plate under doors. Underbody and trucks coated with black car cement.
