Tidewater Oil has been around for over 80 years and includes it’s line of lubricants under the Veedol and Tydol brands on it’s tank cars as well. Ownership
was accuired by Standard Oil of New Jersey in 1930 and later went to Getty Oil, all who kept the Flying A brand up through the 1950’s. In 1936, Associated Oil
Company merged with Tide Water Company, with Associated based in San Francisco and limited to the Far West marketing area. The number of tank cars
bearing the Flying A, Veedol and Tydol markings vary considerably so we are limited by photographs of these cars. Six sets of lettering styles and reporting
marks are included in this sheet so that the modeler can choose which car to model. Cars are all black with white stencil lettering.
