![]() Between 1930 and 1941, the Pere Marquette received 550, 50’ double-door auto cars as follows: Series 71000-71249, 250 cars, Pressed Steel Car Company, Lot 5, delivered October 1930 - for automobile transportation - end doors (In late 1949 the PM was absorbed into the C & O and these cars were repainted and lettered for C&O and renumbered by adding a 2 before the PM numbers.) Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted freight car brown: TCP-221 (color for oxidation with TCP-179) Ends and underframe coated with black car cement. Early cars came with side doors painted black.
