lettering set for Illinois Terminal 53’-6”, 50-ton flatcars

In December of 1945, the ITC received 50, 50-ton AAR design 53’-6” flatcars from American Car & Foundry, St. Louis plant, under Lot 2803. Cars were assigned road numbers as Series 1100-1149.

 

Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted black (except the wood deck); lettering all white stencil paste. No end lettering. As delivered, AC&F painted on the more oval medallion, whereas subsequent repaints often used the pointed-end football shape as seen on ITC 1113, repainted and reweighed in September 1952 at ITC’s Federal, Illinois general shops.
