Twenty-two of these cars were fitted for TOFC trailer loading and designated as Class FC. In April of 1953, the C&EI took delivery of 50, 70-ton AAR 53’-6” at cars. This group of cars were built by Eastern Illinois Equipment Co. of Danville, IL, under an order from Chicago Heights Transfer Terminal Co. as owner/lessor to the C&EI. Series was 42056-42105. Cars ran on 70-ton A-3 Ride Control trucks with a 5’-8” w.b. Thirteen cars were later equipped for TOFC service. Designation within this group was FM, FC and FMS.
