lettering set for Cotton Belt’s 53’-6”, 50-ton flatcars

In November of 1955, the Cotton Belt received 75, 50-ton 53’-6” AAR design flat cars from Greenville Steel Car Company under O.O. 665, and assigned Series numbers as 85000-85074. Then in July 1957, the SSW received an additional 50 cars from GSC under O.O. 679, as Series 85075-85124.

 

Paint & Lettering: Entire car painted with Dupont black except wood deck. Underbody coated with Texaco Black Car Cement. Lettering all

white stencil paste. Ends lettered with 2” A or B, and 1-1/2 spring travel. Truck bolster stenciled with reporting marks.
