Previous Return to list of all Caboose Trucks in Proto:48 Bettendorf Swing-Motion caboose truck
![]() In the mid-1920’s the Bettendorf Company designed and introduced the new Swing-Motion Caboose Truck especially for cabooses. This design combined integral-jornal box side frames with a lateral-motion bolster arrangement. Cushioning was provided by leaf springs and swing links connected at the bolster to a spare transom. The truck was successful and lasted for many years, predominately by the Santa Fe for both cabooses and their fleet of Drover cars and mixed train cabooses. This fully assembled, all-brass model by Boo Rim Precision of Korea, follow’s Bettendorf’s plans and features ball bearings, working journal covers, full brake detail, fully equalized construction with working springs, tapered stainless steel axles, and sintered (70% iron and 30% stainless steel) rib-back wheels with accurate AAR profile. Treads polish to a realistic running appearance. ![]() ![]() |
