![]() Built in 1927 by the Mt. Vernon Car Manufacturing Company, this time with a double-door opening, the D&RGW assigned these cars road numbers as Series 61400-61699. Using a fish-belly steel underframe under steel framed double-sheathed T&G wood sides with a 10’-0” inside height. Cars employed Climax-Cleveland Radial roofs and 4/5 Reversed Dreadnaught square corner ends. Cars were rebuilt with AB brake system and an end-mounted Ajax Power Hand Brake. Cars rode on Vulcan 5’-6” w.b. 50-ton trucks. Amazingly, these cars were still on the active roster into the 1960’s with 61346 being dropped from the roster in 1969.
