![]() In December of 1936 and October 1937, the SP received it’s first group of all-steel, 50’ automobile cars from General American Transportation Corporation, as Class A-50-12, and assigned road numbers as Series 69530-70029, and 64100-64924. At the same time the St. Louis Southwestern, a subsidiary of the Southern Pacific Company, received 50 of the identical car from GATC and numbered as Series 47000-47049. Construction utilized the Murphy Raised panel roof, 4/5 Dreadnaught square corner construction ends for an 10’-4” inside height, 4/6 single row riveted sides, Equipco Power Hand brakes and wood running boards. Cars rode on Bettendorf design 50-ton trucks.
