52’-6” Greenville Gondola for ERIE

Between 1940, with 325 of the first “Greenville” 70-ton gondolas built by ERIE shops to the recommendations and design of the Advisory Mechanical Committee of the Van Sweringen roads, and April of 1952, the ERIE eventually owned 2,050 of these popular gondolas, known in modeling circles as the “Greenville Gon”.  (Note: 800 of were built for the ERIE by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation to these specifications.)

This model, faithfully reproduced by Boo Rim Precision of Korea, using Greenville drawings with AMC markings on it, had standard Dreadnaught ends with Car Builder door locks, Equipco lever hand brakes, 28 interior C-ring stake pockets, and a wood plank floor.  Trucks were70-ton with a 5’-8” w.b. and a 3 coil spring pattern. Trucks run on ball bearings, have working journal covers, full brake detail and is fully equalized and prepainted.  It is equipped with a scale working draft gear assembly with a blackened scale working magnetic “E” type couplers.
