Lettering for URTX leased reefers to M&StL - 1956 scheme

Built in 1931, and rebuilt in May, 1955, the Minneapolis & St. Louis leased 100 of these refrigerator cars from Union Refrigerator Transit Lines, as Series 4800-4899, (UTLX was a subsidiary of General American Transportation Corp, builder, which had a .eet of some 1,700 cars) . M&StL operated many of these cars from 1930 up through the 1960’s. In 1956 the new stenciled “Peoria Gateway” replaced by earlier medallion (see Protocraft Decals M&StL reefer-1). Car sides, ladders and door hinges and truck sideframes painted with reefer orange ;roof, toe kick and ends coated with black car cement. Wheels left unpainted.
