lettering set for Swift’s 37’ wood meat reefers
The refrigerator eet of over 5,000 wood meat reefers of the Swift & Co was operated by General American Transportation Corp, after a sale
and lease-back in 1930. The cars were painted mineral red with yellow sides, black car cement for the underbody and truck sideframes. In
1949, cars began to appear with the short lived large red banner on the right with large white SWIFT. (note: in the early 1950’s, Swift changed
it’s appearance by painting their cars a distinctive all bright red with white fascia boards and lettering. Roofs continued to be painted mineral red -
