The Santa Fe built and owned 3,749 Class Bx-53, 60, 62 and 63 boxcars, all visibly identical. They were initially lettered with the usual 4’ and then 3‘ square cross and circle herald with reporting marks without the 1” lines above and below and no periods between the ATSF reporting marks. In 1959 the huge 8’ cross and circle herald was introduced and applied on all repaints as displayed on ATSF 34038 above and 35616 below, with the ‘SHIP AND TRAVEL” slogan on both sides.
